Calendar Settings: Notifications and Time Zones
The google calendar is a great tool to schedule meetings, appointments and events. To make the most of your calendar, make sure your email notifications are turned on and that the time zone is set correctly.
If someone invites you to a meeting which they have scheduled, you should receive an email invitation. If you do not receive the invitation, your email notification is turned off. To turn the notification on, go into the calendar Notifications setting and select the check boxes under email.
On the left task pane to the right of your calendar, click on the drop-down arrow. A window will display with options. Click Notifications.
In the Choose how you would like to be notified section, select the Email check box for:

If your time zone is not set correctly, you may be scheduling meetings in the middle of the night, or showing up to meetings at the wrong time of day. To check your time zone go to Calendar settings, Calendar details.
On the left task pane to the right of your calendar, click on the drop-down arrow. A window will display with options. Click Calendar Settings. From General settings, be sure the time zone is set to
(GMT -06:00) Central. Click the drop-down to change it if necessary. Save.
