MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING OF THE FYLDE CRICKET LEAGUE HELD AT BLACKPOOL CRICKET CLUB ON TUESDAY 10 JULY 2012 @ 8pm
PRESENT: L Lee, M Whitehead, B Jackson, T Rawstron, P Lever, D Lever, R Armer.
APOLOGIES: T Pickles, J Bamford, L Archer, I Condron.
MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Agreed and passed. No matters arising.
CORRESPONDENCE:
- E Mail from JB apologising for absence. Still “smarting” from failure of Fleetwood CC to properly and directly apologise for late cancellation of Stuart T20 Finals Day- rather leaving it to TP to deal with things. In view of difficulties over last two seasons in framing the fixtures, he asks that AGM be brought forward so he can leave the Palace Shield with a fait accompli and not be left in a position where he continually has his ideas (usually good) uplifted by them. This was discussed at the meeting and whilst every sympathy was taken with his position and close note taken of the excellent work he constantly does, BJ did not see how the fixtures could be so prepared in view of clubs with Palace Shield sides (Fleetwood, St Annes, Ingol) as he would see the senior sides doing exactly what Fleetwood did as above. However, he saw no problem in bringing forward our AGM to, say, early November.TR said that JB was fully deserving of far more demonstrable overall support for his work as he was concerned that he could eventually weary of things and we simply cannot afford to lose someone of his calibre. Finally JB asked if there was a contingency plan in place for the Wareing in view of the weather. 2 games have since been played and TR to check with Fylde CC if an alternative Final date is available.
- JB and Gray Walters have been busy on the recruitment front. JB has stayed in touch with the De Vere and Kirkham have shown an interest in forming a 3rd team next year. TR to follow up as well as contacting Great Eccleston, Garstang, Lytham and Wrea Green.
- Still no reply from Derek Darwen on the “Mystery Benefactor” so TR to chase again.
- LONGRIDGE CC: Following Chris Smith’s concerns at the alleged comments from some Ingol players to some of his young players, no complaint was lodged and there were no umpire reports of anything untoward. TR spoke to Chris at the St Annes v Longridge fixture to find he had calmed down considerably and he explained the complaints procedure to him whilst pointing out that in every instance the umpires are the first point of contact. He added that this seemed very inconsistent with the excellent relationships that Ingol are constantly producing. Also Longridge have omitted to include their League sub with their regs.
- STANLEY PARK PITCH: Reply from Chris Simcock who implies that all would now seem to be well and he speaks of talks with Blackpool CC and Anchorsholme CC towards the creation of another pitch at Fleetwood Road (Mossom Lane). It is felt there are still questions unanswered so TR to write and invite Chris to our next Committee.
- GUIDE TO CLUB CRICKET: STILL awaited! TR to chase again.
- MEDIA COVERAGE: JB in touch with Andy Moore at Gazette who has responded positively. Also, a radio phone interview was conducted on Radio Lancashire with TR the day before the T20 Finals and this seemed to have gone very well.
- NET RUN RATE: JB has explained this in writing. TR to advise clubs/umpires.
- Umpires money still awaited from St Annes for John Laverton for the cancellation of St Annes v Bispham on 19 May. Bispham already paid.
- T20 Finals: Considerable number of e mails covering many aspects of this day. The actual day was very successful thanks mainly to LL and TP who along with St Annes CC arranged everything at short notice. LL and TR shared umpiring duties with RA and John Laverton and Tr took round a raffle raising £70 for FCL funds.TR to write to St Annes CC.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Fully covered in Correspondence.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
- Bank balance after cheques paid in and issued= £941.94.
- Subs due from Longridge £35 and Fleetood and Ingol £5 each
- £16 due from St Annes as above.
- Adverts due Gazette, Lords, West Coast, Bell Green. MW to “chase” John Whiteside for his.
- Registrations as and when they arise.
- Nothing due to creditors.
UMPIRES’ SECRETARY’S REPORT: RA shortly due on holiday but PL will deputise in his absence.
THERE WERE NO REPORTS FOR FIXTURES, PRESS OR REGISTRATIONS.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS:
- TR asked about Presentation Event. After some discussion, it was felt we need a slightly larger venue than last year and positively no music! No decisions about food but TR to approach St Annes CC for possible buffet and use of Function Room.
- Rules require clarification over eligibility of players for cup competitions. At the moment we look at appearances made in league matches but no allowance is made where players are selected but do not actually appear as the match in question is cancelled due to adverse weather. We should remain aware of this now but TR to arrange for amendment to be advised to all clubs ahead of the AGM.
THE MEETING CLOSED AT 8.30pm
