Creating In-Text Citations

In-text citations are the way of linking the information you are including in your research paper to the list of sources on your Works Cited page.

Generally, they are formatted like this:

This citation refers to the following Works Cited page bibliography entry:

Simpson, Homer.  My Life With Marge.  Springfield:  Flanders and Sons, 2005.  Print.

If no author is listed for your bibliography entry, go to the next item in the entry.  For example, consider the book entitled,

Duff Gardens:  A Fun and Family Getaway.  Springfield:  Burns and Smithers, 2003.  Print.

The in-text citation would look like this:  (Duff 35).
