A total of 472 teams entered in 1998. Of these 1% were awarded Outstanding, 17% were awarded Meritorious, 25% were named Honorable Mention, and 57% were given the designation of Successful Participant. The teams came from 8 countries, which included Australia, Canada, China, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Lithuania, and the United States.
