Throughout the unit remind students of the final project that is due by day 6:

Have students take the information they have learned in class as well as the info they have learned about themselves through the Traineo or DailyBurn programs and create a personal 5 day fitness plan programmed towards all components focused on, as well as a stated goal on what they would like to improve in.

Day 1:

 

Theme: Learning Aspects of Healthy Lifestyle.

 

Intro: Explain how they will be eventually creating their own fitness plan, having a healthy lifestyle.  

Warm-up: Hula Hoop Food

 

Lesson focus: Learning some of the different aspects of a healthy lifestyle; cardio, muscular, body comp, nutrition.

 

Fitness component:  They will learn on both a cognitive, affective and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind. 600 step count goal.

 

Closure:  Have them sign up for either Traineo or DailyBurn, and have them start tracking their nutrition and workouts for the next week.  

 

Day 2:

 

Theme: Cardiovascular Fitness

 

Intro: Explain the importance of cardiovascular fitness.  

Warm-up:  Rooster on the Roof

 

Lesson focus: Focus on cardiovascular exercises. Such as walking, jogging, elliptical, jumping jacks, jump rope, etc.

 

Fitness component:  They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind. 1000 Step count goal.

Closure:  Make sure they are continuing their tracking of nutrition and workouts for their chosen sight.

  

 

Day 3:

 

Theme: Muscular Strength/Endurance

 

Intro:  Explain the importance of muscular strength/endurance.

 

Warm-up: Wall sits car races, with announcer.

 

Lesson focus: Focus on muscular exercises. Such as squats, pushups, pull ups, free weights, etc.

Fitness component:

 They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind. 600 step count goal.

 

Closure: Make sure they are continuing their tracking of nutrition and workouts for their chosen sight.

 

Day 4:

 

Theme: Body Composition

 

Intro:  Explain the importance of maintaining a healthy body weight. 

 

Warm-up: Dragon Tag

 

Lesson focus: Focus on weight loss exercises such as interval training, squats, and the use of workout weight loss DVD’s.

Fitness component:

They will learn on both a cognitive, affective and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind. 1000 step count goal.

Closure: Make sure they are continuing their tracking of nutrition and workouts for their chosen sight.

Day 5:

Theme: Nutrition

 

Intro:  Explain the importance of Nutrition

 

Warm-up: Cereal Nutrition Numbers- exercises.

 

Lesson focus: Focus on nutrition information. Balanced Diet, create a general pyramid, etc.

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind. 500 step count goal.

 Closure: Have students take the information they have learned in class as well as the info they have learned about themselves through the Traineo or DailyBurn programs and create a personal 5 day fitness plan programmed towards all components focused on, as well as a stated goal on what they would like to improve in.

Day 6:

Theme: Fitness Plan Presentations

 

Intro:  Congratulate students on a job well done.

Warm-up: Pick a partner and do 2 of their exercises.

 

Lesson focus: Students will present their fitness plan to the class, and have entire class do at least one of their activities.

 

Fitness component:  They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind. 700 step count goal.

Closure: Congratulate them again; get them excited for the next topic!
