Available HIH Executive Board Positions

The Hand in Hand Executive Board leads, maintains, and imporves the Hand in Hand Mentorship Program at Hancock Elementary School. The Board consists of Hamline students who serve as volunteers. There are currently three positions available on the Hand in Hand Executive Board. All board members must attend board meetings. If you are considering a position that requires e-mailing, know that you will be using e-mail templates (so you won’t have to draft anything on your own).

Retention Officer: Attendance

This retention officer keeps track of volunteer attendance.

Time Required: 1-2 hours per week

Duties:

1. Updates a list of all current volunteers and their buddies

2. Records volunteer attendance once a week and accounts for excused and unexcused volunteer absences

3. Sends out and responds to e-mails related to volunteer absences

4. Keep track of Hancock and Hamline holidays, professional development days, and other school closings (these are all available on the Hancock calendar).

Retention Officer: Terminations

This retention officer keeps track of volunteers who have left the program.

Time Required: 1-2 hours per week

Duties:

1. Maintains a list of volunteers who have left the program

2. Sends out and responds to e-mails regarding volunteers who have to leave the program

3. Updates all records to reflect new volunteers and delete volunteers who have left the program

General Board Member

1. Occasionally maintains the Hancock on-site location (where buddies meet at Hancock, buddy cabinet etc.)

2. Assisting with organizing/planning Large Group Events (three times a year)
