On September 11, 2001 at 8:46am an al-Qaeda suicide bombing happened on the Twin Towers of The World Trade Center in New York City. The suicide bombers of al-Qadea hijacked four airplanes, three of the four airplanes crashed where they were intended to but the fourth airplane, Flight 93, was supposed to crash into the Capital Building, but instead the passengers have heard what happened with the three other airplanes that crashed into the buildings and fought off the terrorists and the plane crashed to the ground. One of the three planes that hit its target hit The Pentagon, but only started some fires inside and outside of it but the building didn’t collapse. The damage that happened to The Pentagon has been rebuilt. Unfortunately, the last two planes that hit, hit both the Twin Towers and within two hours both of them collapsed, leaving all of New York City in a cloud of dust from the destruction of the Towers giving many people that were outside watching the disaster happen lung disease from all the smoke they inhaled as they ran away. Al-Qaeda, or Islamic Extremists was the group that was responsible for 9/11, was found by Osma bin Laden. Osama bin Laden is one of the biggest terrorist leaders in the world and was trained by the C.I.A so the Soviets wouldn’t kill him, but he clearly turned on us because of our relations with India, a country they’re feuding with. Out of the four planes filled with people, there were no survivors in any of them. Not only did the suicide bombers kill everybody on board, they also killed hundreds of people that were working that day. When the Towers were burning and the people on the higher levels of the buildings thought they basically had no chance in getting out alive and they didn't want to suffer burning or suffocating so some people just jumped out of the windows to their death hundreds of stories to the ground. After all the attacks were done and the towers collapsed there were more than 3,000 people dead.

My family lived in Malta, Europe at the time we were six hours ahead of EST my dad called my mom just as she was about to pick me up after kindergarten to say that a plane crashed into the World Trade Center. She did not realize at the time that it was a terrorist attack until she turned on the T.V. watch the second plane crash into the World Trade Center. Our family was close friends with the U.S Embassy, after calling the embassy my mother knew America was under attack. All we could do was watch T.V. and wonder what was going to happen because we didn’t know when we would be able to get back into America. My mom was particularly upset because her first job was on the 24th floor of one of the Twin Towers. She was very sad because all of those people that were in there were simply going to work. My father also worked in one of the Trade Center buildings for many years. Since both of my parents worked in that area they knew of my parents knew many people who died in the attacks.

After September 11th there were more issues then just people being devastated from what they saw, but the economy just went down the toilet. Before 9\11 there were millions of airplanes in the air at all times. but on September 12th there were zero. That doesn’t just mean people couldnt travel places, it also means the government isn’t making the money they usually do on a normal day from airplane costs and tickets people have to pay for. Also the economy wasn't only suffering from airlines not getting money, the unemployment rate was also a problem because the Twin Towers held jobs for thousands of workers in New York City and from the Towers collapsing that ment thousands of jobs just went down the toilet. Even though a lot of people lost their lives in the Towers, the ones that didn't still suffered because they all lost their jobs. The government lost a lot more money than that. They also lost money from cleaning up ground zero, and the whole city from all the debris. The United States was already in financial trouble before this attack happened and after these attacks it just put everything in a much worse place. The attacks that took place did so much more damage than what al-Qaeda ever thought it would be. It put us in unbelievable financial debt and it also wrecked our feel of safety in our nation.
