Read Margaret Atwood’s poem, Half-Hanged Mary, based on the true account of a woman who survived her hanging at the Salem Witch Trials.

Write a paragraph (4-6 sentences) in reaction to the poem.  Consider how you might feel outliving your death sentence in a community like Salem.
