In this guide you will learn about the appropriate browsers that are most compatible with Moodle ISU 2.  It will also discuss the basic process for accessing your Moodle ISU 2 course and what to do if you encounter any problems.

This guide will help you to understand:

Mozilla Firefox and Other Browsers

Mozilla Firefox is an open source browser recommended for Moodle ISU 2 and supported by the ITRC. The ITRC does not recommend using Internet Explorer when accessing Moodle ISU 2 due to the high probability of encountering browser-related issues such as the inability to take a quiz or submit an assignment.

If you don’t already have Firefox installed, you can download it for free from:

  1. (either Mac or PC versions)
  2. Click on the Download Firefox – Free link.
  3. When given the option to run or save, Select Save in order to download the installation file to the desktop.
  4. Once downloaded, Double-Click on the Installation file to install.

Accessing your Moodle ISU 2 Course

You can find a link to Moodle ISU 2 by going to the Idaho State University homepage (, and then Clicking on the BengalWeb link


        Sign in, then Click on the Moodle icon         on the top right of the page.                                                            

You may also Type in your web browser.

Other browsers may be used such as Chrome, Sea Monkey, Safari, etc. However, because there are known problems with other browsers, we strongly recommend using Mozilla Firefox.  Please DO NOT use Internet Explorer when accessing Moodle ISU 2.

Signing In and Out of Moodle ISU 2  

Your username is the same as the first part of your email address. For example, if your ISU email is, your username is doejane. The password for Moodle ISU 2 is the same as the password for your ISU email. If you have forgotten your password, you can look up the information in My ISU or call the help desk at 282-HELP (4357).  

To log out, Click on Logout next to your name at the upper right corner of the screen.

Troubleshooting Moodle ISU 2 Issues

There are some functions in Moodle ISU 2 that require that the pop-up blocker be turned off. Also, if cookies and/or JavaScript is/are disabled, this can cause issues.

  1. To change any of the browser settings
  1. Click on the Orange Firefox tab located at the top left corner of your page.

  1. Drag your cursor over to the Options tab

  1. Click on Options (a pop-up screen will appear)

  1. Turning the Pop-up Blocker off for Moodle ISU 2
  1. Click on the Content tab, and Click on Exceptions (the first button from the top). A pop-up screen will appear.

  1. In the Address of web site field, Type “*” (without the quotations).
  2. Click the Allow button. The website will now be in the Site menu/status area.

  1. Click Close. The pop-up screen will disappear.


  1. Enabling Cookies
  1. To enable cookies, Click on the Privacy tab.  
  2. In the History section, Click on the Firefox will: … dropdown and Choose Use custom setting for history. 
  3. At this point, make sure that the options are checked to match the screenshot below.

  1. Enabling JavaScript
  1. Under the Content tab, make sure the box next the Enable JavaScript is checked.

  1. When you are finished with editing the browser settings, Click the OK button to save and close the options window.  

PLEASE NOTE:  The ITRC does not recommend using Internet Explorer when accessing Moodle ISU 2 due to the high probability of encountering browser-related issues such as the inability to take a quiz or submit an assignment.
