Hypothalamus- a portion of the brain that serves many functions:
~Links the nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland
~Responsible for certain metabolic processes and other activities of the autonomic nervous system (responsible for maintaining homeostasis in the body)
~Synthesizes and secretes hormones that in turn stimulate or inhibit the secretion of pituitary hormones.
-controlling menstruation, ovulation, lactation, and other functions specific to the female body.
~Controls body temperature, hunger, thirst, fatigue and circadian cycles (a roughly-24-hour cycle in the biochemical, physiological or behavioral processes of living beings)
The Hypothalamus is a very important player in the workings of our body.
