Day 1:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro: Briefly explain how we will be using the iDance in the next few days of class.

 

Warm-up: Strike a pose Tag

 

Lesson focus: Introduce students to rhythm. Learn how to clap along with beat, stomp, jump, etc.

 

Fitness component:  They will learn on both a cognitive and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 

Closure:  Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

 

Day 2:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro: Explain how the iDance works, they will start using it today.

 

Warm-up:  Circle Dance Off

 

Lesson focus: Focus on the basics of using the iDance system, easy levels.

 

Fitness component:  They will learn on both a cognitive and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

Closure:  Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

  

 

Day 3:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro:  Explain the progressions they may go through, and how they will improve in iDance.

 

Warm-up: Freeze Dance

 

Lesson focus: Continue work on iDance basics. Move up levels, maybe to normal or hard. Have students work together and help each other out.

 They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

Day 4:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro:  Explain how learning good rhythm threw this game, can help them in any dancing situation. 

 

Warm-up: Cha Cha Slide

 

Lesson focus: Students will work on using the iDance with other body parts beside’s their feet. They will crab walk, use their elbows, bums, etc. with partners.

They will learn on both a cognitive, affective and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

Day 5:

Theme: iDance

 

Intro:  Talk about team work.

 

Warm-up: Freestyle Dance

 

Lesson focus: Partner/group work. Students will stay in partners and groups working on together skills and activities. Such activities as quad jumps, holding hands, and quad bums.  

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

Day 6:

Theme: WheelChair Basketball

 

Intro:  Talk about being Creative 

 

Warm-up: Copy Me

 

Lesson focus: Students will focus on using additional gym equipment. Being creative. They will use basketballs, tennis balls, etc. to hit the arrows as they pass through.

 Fitness component:  They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.  

Day 7:

 

Theme: iDance 

 

Intro: Talk about being heart healthy.

 

Warm-up: red light green light

 

Lesson focus: Have students focus on step counts for the day and heart rates. Allow students to choose any level they wish, but challenge them to get their heart rate as high as they can. Can they beat the person next to them?  

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

 

 

Day 8:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro: Mirroring

 

Warm-up: Rooster on the Roof

 

Lesson focus: Mirroring activities will be used. Such as students will get into partners and have to copy each other’s movements off the pads, as well as facing pads towards each other and one student most copy the student who is facing the screen.  

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

 

Day 9:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro: Talk about feeling/listening to the music

 

Warm-up: Cotton Eyed Joe

 

Lesson focus: Have students really focus on hearing the beat. Have students pair up, with 1 student per pair blind folded. Partners will tell their friend which arrow to use but student must really rely on hearing the beat.

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

 

 

Day 10:

 

Theme:  iDance

 

Intro: Talk about going above and beyond, sport and life.

 

Warm-up: Chicken Dance

 

Lesson focus: Learning cool new things. If you try to go the extra mile you may learn some great new things. Trying some cool tricks, travel jumps.

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 

Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

 

Day 11:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro:

 

Warm-up: Dance Off

 

Lesson focus: Tricks continued, allow students to try handstand tricks, jump rope or anything they can come up with. Today creativity and thinking outside the box is key.

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class and get them pumped for next lesson.

Day 12:

 

Theme: iDance

 

Intro: Last day of iDance

 

Warm-up: Jump Ropes

 

Lesson focus: Free day, allow the students to focus on whichever aspect of the iDance they chose. Whether it is something from the first day or the tricks learned towards the end. Student and partner may work together towards whatever they chose.

 

Fitness component: They will learn on both a cognitive, affective, and psychomotor level in this unit. Working out both the muscle and mind.

 Closure: Reinforce cues learned in class, and congratulate them on a job well done. Exit requirement take home quiz.
