Intro: Brief the class in what is going to happen the next few days in class.

Warm-up: Sharks and Minoes

Lesson focus: Begin the Swimming unit by getting the class use to the water.

Fitness component:  Students will be challenged physically and mentally throughout the unit.

Closure:  Debrief the class by reviewing cues and task that was learned today in class.

Day 2:

Theme: Front Crawl

Intro:

Warm-up:  2 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: Introduce students to the horizontal position in the water. This will show them the difference in walking around and swimming.

Fitness component:  Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming lesson.

Closure:  Debrief the class by reviewing cues and task that was learned today in class.

 

Day 3:

Theme: Front Crawl

Intro: introduce the scissor kick to the class

Warm-up: 2 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: Scissor kick; Going to focus on what the lower body does during the front crawl without using the upper body.

Fitness component:

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.

Closure:

Debrief the class by reviewing cues and task that was learned today in class.

Day 4:

Theme: Front Crawl

Intro: Continue with scissor kick

Warm-up: 4 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: Scissor kick:

Today students will continue perfecting the scissor kick while having flippers on. This will help students you have trouble propelling themselves through the water.

Fitness component:

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.

Closure:

Debrief the class by reviewing cues and task that was learned today in class.

Day 5:

Theme: Front Crawl

Intro:  Brief the class for todays lesson.

Warm-up: 4 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: stroke:

Today students will learn what their upper body does during the stroke of the front crawl. They will not be scissor kicking in today’s lesson.

Fitness component:

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.

Closure:

Debrief the class by reviewing cues and task that was learned today in class.

Day 6:

Theme: Front Crawl

Intro:

Warm-up: 4 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: Continue with the stroke:

Todays lesson students will again focusing on body composition during the stroke of the front crawl. They will still just be using their upper body’s

Day 7:

Intro: Brief them on what they will be doing today.

Warm-up: 4 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: Breathing:

Today’s lesson will be focusing on the correct way to breathe during the front crawl. They will be using every 3/6 stroke breathing technique.

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.

Day 8:

Intro: Brief the students on what they will be doing today

Warm-up: 6 laps across the pool and back

Lesson focus: Front Crawl:

Now that the students understand what the whole body does during the front crawl and how to use breathing, the students will now put all the pieces together and perform the whole skill.

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.

Day 9:

Theme: Front Crawl

Intro: Brief the students on what they will be doing today

Warm-up: 6 laps

Lesson focus: How to play water polo

Today’s lesson they students will be working on the fundamentals on the game water pool. They will practice passing and shooting while swimming in the pool.

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.

Day 10:

Theme:  Front Crawl

Intro: Brief the students on what they will be doing today

Warm-up: 6 laps

Lesson focus: Water Polo:

Today the students will be playing a full game of water polo. the students will break up into 4 teams and be playing each team at least once. The students will have to work together to win against the opponents.

Students will get both a mental and physical workout while particpating in this swimming unit.
