Japan Earthquake Blog

This morning at 14:46 pm Japanese local time (5:46 GMT), Japan was hit by an earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale. The tsunami was 10m high (33 feet). It was caused by an earthquake under the sea and the earthquake was caused by the Pacific Plate going under the Eurasian Plate causing the sea to flow over to Japan. It was the 6th most powerful earthquake recorded since 1900 and Japans second largest earthquake. Canada and mainland United States have been warned about being hit.

Japan earthquake blog

This morning at 5:46am I was asleep, however at 14:46 in Japan there was a 10 metre high tsunami caused by an earthquake under the Pacific Ocean. It also caused a number of fires. It is the second largest earth-quake to have happened in Japan and at 8.9 on the Richter scale it is the sixth largest to be recorded. This devastating incident happened 20 miles under the Pacific Ocean because of the Pacific Plate going under the Eurasian Plate.
