Just Right Books

A simple way to select a “Just Right” book is to use the Five Finger Rule. This ensures that the book is neither too easy, nor too hard, but just right! First choose an interesting book. Then pick a random page in the book. Read the page out loud and every time you get to a word that you do not know put up a finger. If you get to the end of a page and you have five fingers up then the book is too hard! So, pick another book and try again until you find the perfect book.
