LUCY STONE COOPERATIVE
JANUARY 2011 NEWSLETTER
Dear Friends, Comrades, Co-opers, and Supporters,
The Lucy Stone Cooperative is moving quickly towards our move-in date of February 1st. We've selected all of our 12 housemates, picked our rooms, assigned rent, and are preparing the house to be both functional and beautiful as an intentional community and a center for social justice.
Our First Work Day!
On January 8th, 27 housemates and community members came together to work on our new house in Dudley Square. We tore down old walls in the basement, fixed the drainpipes, got new locks, surveyed the electrical system, ripped out carpet and linoleum, and got new valves for our radiators! More importantly though, we gathered as a community, made new friends, ate a wonderful home-cooked lunch in our new living room, and felt incredibly supported by our wider community. It was incredible to see the house filled with laughter and joy--we’re looking forward to much more of this to come!
Our next work day is coming up this Saturday the 22nd! Please join us at 28 Moreland from 10am-5pm to meet new people, join the laughter, and to help clean, paint, and renovate!
Come worship with us!
We invite you to join us this Sunday, January 23rd, at First Church in Jamaica Plain, Unitarian Universalist, for the 11am service. Rev. Charles Wibiralski will be preaching about how intentional communities have been a part of the Unitarian Universalist movement as well as how the Lucy Stone Co-op has inspired him and Rev. Marshall Hawkings. They will be celebrating and commissioning the Lucy Stone Co-op for the work they've done and all that is to come. A couple of the board members will also share stories about their involvement with LSC. We’d love to have you join us.
