Testing Google Docs for Math
When using a word processing application for resources I will use in a math classroom, my primary concern is how well the application will render math equations and expressions, though text is also important. This test document will look at how well Zoho Writer handles math & text.
First, a few quick tests for text:
Serif Font:The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
Sans-Serif Font:The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
Font Color:The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
Text Effects:The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.
Math Text:The standard form of a quadratic equation is ax2 + bx + c = 0.
Most major productivity software suites have a math or equation editor built-in which is more than can be typically found in cloud-based productivity applications. Google Docs does have an LaTeX-based equation editor, though, which I used to create the following samples:
Integral:
Quadtratic Formula:
Combinations without repetition:
(ε, δ)Definition of a Limit:
Let ƒ be a function defined on an open interval containing c (except possibly at c) and let L be a real number. Then the formula means for each real number
ε >0, there exists a real δ such that for all x, .
