As you may know, John Pistole, head of the TSA, recently rejected airports requests to join the Screening Partnership Program, and announced his decision to not allow any additional airports to enter the Program.  In response to this direct violation of the law which created the TSA and gave airports the ability to  choose a private security company to perform screening and security, US Senator Roy Blunt from Missouri has proposed an Amendment to the law that would required the TSA to approve requests by airports to participate in the Federally mandated Screening Partnership Program.

Because of the importance of this legislation to all Covenant employees, I would ask that you contact your US Senators and urge them to support Senator Blunt’s Amendment.  Copy the link below into your internet browser to find the address (including email address) for your Senator and urge them to support this important Amendment today.

Here is the body of a suggested email you may want to send to your two Senators….

Dear Senator XX,

I ask you to support the Blunt Amendment to the FAA Authorization Bill, S.223.  The cornerstone of America is choice.  The TSA has recently taken away by administrative fiat a choice given by the Congress to airports to decide their approach to their own security.  The Blunt amendment seeks to correct this injustice and allow airports to have the choice the Congress intended.
