The population of Lucern is less than 60,000. You can see around the whole city within 3 hrs walking I guess.
It was foggy on the way water tower from Jugendherberge hostel. It was impressed with great view, fresh air and quiet city(it's Sunday). Hostel was fine. Especially receptionist, she provided kindly and friendly information for tour.
A part of the rampart walls built in 1386; the wall is still almost entirely intact. Three towers are open to the public: Schirmer, Zyt and Männli.
Climb the Musegg Wall (Easter - 1st Nov), 8.00 am - 7.00 pm.
It was closed in Nov when I went there. I found often some historical places were closed during winter for repair or the lack of tourists(?).
This octagonal tower - over 34 meters high (111.5 ft.) - was built around 1300 as part of the city wall and used as an archive, treasury, prison and torture chamber. It is Lucerne's trademark and the most frequently photographed monument in Switzerland.
Might it be epic with pictures on triangle wooden panel to describe these water tower history or the chapel bridge(wooden bridge)? You can see quite often graffiti on the wall of famous places.
