The Horse

It was four years ago when I was sitting in front of my barn contemplating things. Then all of a sudden a thought came into my head. What I was thinking was that I should get myself a horse. So I decided to look in the local news paper for any horses for sale. After I skimmed through it I saw an Arabian horse being advertised for sale. So I then called the owners of the horse and said I would check the horse out in the morning. When I went to see the horse I thought it was perfect. So I bought the horse and took it home with me I was excited.

Well the hose wasn’t exactly trained when I purchased it. First off I had to name the horse. It was a male so I decided to name it Jack. I named it Jack because I kind of like that name. Jack had a beautiful color it was real milky white. Jack required a lot of care and maintenance. Over the short period of time that I had Jack I developed an friendly bond with it as master and pet. Every day I would feed it and brush it and brush it.

Owning that horse taught me a lot of life lessons. One instance is that having to take care of it taught me responsibility and the ethics of hard work and dedication. Training the horse was a very tedious task I had to first guide it by pulling it by a rope. Then it eventually let me ride it.

After Jack had allowed me to ride him I felt immediate relief. I took Jack up and down the street then We went into the woods. Then all of a sudden a limb fell and Jack got spooked and he took off with me in a giant gallop. I was really freaked out and then I fell of Jack and hit a tree. I then got up and went up to my horse when it calmed down and got it under control.

All had been going seemingly well with me and Jack for about a month when suddenly Jack

had contracted a disease in his hooves. That was a major blow to me because I had to make sure I did not irritate him and that he was feeling all right. Jacks disease in his hooves eventually went away but it kind of made him a more aggressive horse.

I had Jack for about a year when suddenly he broke his leg by getting caught in a hole. So I was forced to shoot him in the head with a 243. and that was the end of that horse.  Owning jack taught me that life is too short and that helped me make positive choices in everyday situations which helped me get through a lot of different things.
