History

-Developed since early 1990s for meeting the changing needs of adopting Information Technology in educational administration

-Founded in 1927 by a Catholic missionary group, aiming at providing quality education at the greater development of students in moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual aspects.

-Founded in 1956, an aided primary school in Tai Hang district. The school was in a risk of closing down in late 1990’s as the student intake rate drop drastically. The school designed to change to NCS strand in 2003 (which mainly enrolls  students which are non Chinese student.)

-It was a traditional school before 2003. After  2003, the school faced a crisis that on the staff stability.

-Established in 2004, which offers an interactive learning environment for secondary three graduates to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for further study and employment.

-Founded in 1996 and it was the third secondary school of the same organization in this area serving the need of educating students.

Most schools are traditional school providing educational need of their areas.

Culture

-Collaboration within teams have been well maintained

-Collaboration among different teams were establishing

-More sharing in the organization was nourishing

Well established division of labour, not much collaboration between departments, unless a need is imposed by top-down or external forces (e.g. EDB)

-The school adopted a lot of administrative policy and guidelines to help staff to finish their tasks

-a very clear hierarchy of work

-A clear job allocation to different subject panal

-not much collaboration between departments

-Emphasis the importance of appraisal of the staff

- different units have their own team leader, collaboration with other teams often appear

- Sharing in the team not often offer, meeting will only hold up when leader announce new regulation

-Traditional secondary school but most staff worked since from the beginning of the school.

- Good interpersonal relationship and work out solution together

-Most of the schools have well established policy of work and work hierarchy such  that minimize collaboration time.

The school systems are rather traditional  with the same hierachy of work

The EDB and Cherrie’s cases asks for more collaboration

Current Planning

-To keep closer contact with schools and other sections of the Education Bureau, so as to understand their needs better

-To initiate new IT projects or enhance current systems to meet the needs

-To promote the use of IT in educational administration

To prepare for the first batch of NSS students

To prepare for the anniversary celebration to be held in 2012

To prepare for the ESR to be held in 1st term of 2011/2012

- To promote co-operative learning in classroom level

- To push students academic performance in maths and English. E.g. To introduce elite programme for these 2 subjects

- To promote students reading ability and interest

- To promote and develop the courses to outsiders to show our adoption  and flexibility for students study or career paths

- To keep closer contact with different vocational organizations

-To prepare the NSS issue and planning to face the trend of NCS, SEN students

-Planning to submit proposal for the quality education fund from EDB in order to implement IT in education

2 schools focus on NSS issue and caring for NCS students.

And most schools following EDB direction and implement IT in education.

The school’s planning are mainly focusing on the academic area while the EDB focusing on providing support to school

Staff

-To encourage staff in  professional development

-To provide more opportunities for sharing and discussion among staff

-To redeploy staff to other duties for wider exposure and succession planning

To encourage staff to be more involved in collaboration

To involve more staff in the decision-making process

To tap external resources in staff development

- To encourage staff in  professional development

- To encourage staff (especially panal chairman) to reflect the effectiveness of their work plan

-Appraisal every year to access the staff performances.

- The center of teaching and learning offer many courses to encourage staffs to develop their professional in teaching and learning

- most staffs are term staff with 1 year contract, increase the competitive between staffs

- To encourage staff to attend CPD and special training for SEN students

- Lunch meeting to share current issues

- Although most teachers worked for many years, they still welcome new technology and method to solve problems.

All school encourage staff attend CPD and would generate atmosphere to colleague to share and discus.

Effectively use external resources for staff development.

There is a minor difference only as all the organizations encourage staff to develop continously. Some school prefer sharing among staff and some of them prefer to attend workshops provided by outsiders.
