This course meets every other day for a full year.
This course requires dedicated access to a classroom set of computers (1 per student).
Description of the course:
This course provides students with an opportunity to develop their technological literacy. For the purpose of this document, “technological literacy” is delineated by the ISTE Nets student standards (http://www.iste.org/standards/nets-for-students). The course will provide a survey in technological skills, including: information literacy and research techniques, search engine operation, web page markup and design, social networking operation and etiquette, digital citizenship, and computer programming. Along with direct instruction in these topics, students will design and execute a capstone project that demonstrates the application of the skills that they acquire to the construction of a technologically-based resource that addresses a perceived need in their community (scholastic or otherwise).
Cost of the course: No supplies or materials need to be purchased by the district to run this course.
