1.What kind of animals would you be able to find in Umphang?
In Umphang, you can find elephants, sloth bears, king fishers, fish, birds, tigers, and gaurs and many other wild animals.
2. Why is the journey into Umphang ‘half the fun’? What does the writer mean by this?
The writer says the journey is half the fun because its probably a really long, adventurous journey, the only way to Umphang is from the north - 165 kilometer road that covers several mountain ranges. He also describes the journey in great detail like the thousand of snaking tight turns of the road, the passing gracious scenery and talks about some of the history and the roads previous names.
3. What type of people live in the area?
The people that live area are like half asleep during week days but fully active on weekends and holidays. The villagers also seem to know the Umphang area very well, especially the tour guides, the days may be short and hard but the people there are healthy and happy.
4. What type of trip did the writer want to do?
The writer wanted to do an adventurous trip that no one else would do.
5. Why is the area known as Tee Lor Su Waterfall so clean?
The Tee Lor Su Waterfall site is so clean because it is a part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the park rangers are vigilant about keeping the area clean, no paper, plastic bottles, cigarettes, lighters, soap or shampoo are allowed past the forest checkpoint and thats why it is so clean.

The former village headman know spends his days lazing in his hammock, playing with his grandchildren, and talking with visitors.
7. What makes the village so special or how is it different from Hong Kong?
The village is so special and is different to Hong Kong because there have no electricity, no Internet and no cellphone coverage, they wake up at 4:30 am to de-husk rice, normally we would still be sound asleep in bed.

Because the rhythm of life has a peaceful and deliberate pace, devoid of the stress plaguing in the cities.
