motherland

wheeling mother past wall of pink&green

(why is the world so devildamned round)

trying to see through sand&smog

all the aerial sh/t that mucks the sky

watch: a slip of pink breaks free, flutters by

i catch: powdered milk - american style!

indeed.

yet once, the middle kingdom reigned supreme

the remaining universe but an opium dream

land of confucians and hong lou meng

great wall of blood&bone    by

jade palace and alchemists of the Way  sure

then too there were death&inequality, misery

but      pride

now we've reached a park

w/splotches of red and patches of green.

mom turns around.

she's aged years since--since yesterday

she smiles. listen she says -

  a sparrow's chirp (a free bird's song)

zai wo de zu guo  in my motherland.
