Students have black writing folders in thier cubbies by the door. Paper is on the yellow shelf by the door as well as book publishing tools, construction paper and transparency paper.

Writing Prompt: Write about your favorite toy. Model how you would write to this prompt. Then send students to complete independently. Should be one complete paragraph with illustrations. Please walk around and select 4 students in need to pull back and help at the kidney table. When they are finished please put back in black folders and put folders in student cubbies

The math wall with headers GOOD is an interacitive wall.

Start with G

Pull one of the coordinate grid cards from the coordinate grid under the G and have students in notebooks as you plot on the wall.

O- operations and algebraic thinking

Pick one word problem card. The cards are hiding behind the white board, in between whiteboard and classroom wall. Read the problem two times then allow the students time to solve it. Pick 3 students to write on wall one to write it as a equation, picture form and tally marks or number line.

O  Operations use the Hundreds board chart with 9 squares. Fill in a number in the middle and allow the students to fill in what goes around it. D _ Students should have answered a new question of the day on the graph. Complete the Analyze the graph page as a group and discuss.

Workshop:

Students need to get math journals and math tools from the bins by the backpacks. The need to solve the word problems 2 ways and show their work in their math journal.

Who is ready to solve independently? These students can go out to their seat with tools and solve the problem. Next,

Who needs more help or needs clarification? Ask them to sit with you on the carpet as you review and model how to start the problem.

After Reading:

Form a circle on the rainbow carpet and share out vocabulary words. Pick one words to discuss. Have student try to define the word using their knowledge, re read the passage in the book. Then have one student post the word on the vocabulary wall, using either a post it or taping a page from their thinking book under the word E on bulletin board.

Word Study Weekly Assessment

Directions:

Students have group based spelling assessments.

Please see lists on accuracy part of the bulletin board under A for group lists. If not available you can ask one student from each of the drawers in the green cart to bring you a word list from their DOT homework binders. Call each group one at a time back to the kidney table to take their word study spelling test

The other students can get their word study folders in the green cart by the poet tree and study with a partner.

Please put completed word study tests in yellow basket by water fountain.

Select on of the Comprehension reading passages on cards(in a yellow box) on the shelf under the library books by the kidney table. Divide the class into 4 teams assign each team a passage. Have them read it and answer the comprehension questions.

As a team the need to present their answers and support it with text or illustrations, they can do this by pointing to the words and pictures to explain their answer choices.
