POLICY

There was a  cold war between the USA and the URSS.

The Berlin's wall had fell in November 1989, after that,  the cold war finished an the two Germanies joined.

In 1981 Antonio Tejero tried to carry out a coup d'etat in Spain but he failed.

TECHNOLOGY

There were a lot of machines invented in the 80's, for example: microwave, walkman, VHS video etc.

Videogames became very popular. Nintendo games console was born in  1985. Super Mario was born in 1985 too.

MUSIC

Michael Jackson's cd called "Thriller" became the most sold cd in the history with 140 millions of disks sold.

MTV channel began in 1981. It was very important for the music word, because it was the first to broadcast music all the time.

There was a cultural movement called "movida madrileña", in cinema (Pedro Almodovar), music (Alaska, Radio Futura, Nacha Pop, etc.). There was also a movement in Vigo called "movida viguesa". It was a musical movement with a lot of important music pop and rock bands, for example : Golpes Bajos, Aerolineas Federales, Os Resentidos (Galicia Canibal), and of course SINIESTRO TOTAL.

U2 became one of the most importat pop rock bands in the world. It's debut albun was Boy (1980) , and the album "The Joshua tree" made them very famous.

SPORTS

Michael Jordad played for the first time in the NBA withe the Chigago Bulls, and he became the most important basketball player in the history.

Maradona a Barcelona's player in 1982. He was one of the best football player in the history. My father told me  he  saw him in Balaidos stadium when he played in Sevilla FC. He scored a fantastic free shot.

In the 80's our team Celta de Vigo was a "elevator team". It was always between the first and the second division of the spanish championship. It wasn't a good decade for the team.
