O, I wish I were a bird

Flying high above the stars,

Spending every living day flying over moving cars

I would be the one high above the rest

Spending cold sacred nights in my warm, cosy nest

O, I wish I were a bird

With my feathers neated in a line

Wrapped around my body like a piece of thin twine

Like a flying angel vibrant and full of joy

As fast as a throw of a newspaper boy`

When I see a bird at sea, I know I’m close to land

Seeing birds everywhere and their footprints in the sand

Sitting in the ocean catching fish all day long

Squawking and screeching as they sing their singsong

O, I wish I were a bird

Could spend all day lazily perched upon a cow’s back

As they eat olive coloured grass as their midday snack

Perched on a branch as I eat my banquet

Sharing my dinner with my lifelong duet

And if I were a bird, As I hope to be

I hope you’ll spend every moment with me
