CMU Jazz Festival and Night of Jazz Info

The Jazz Band’s busy weekend is quickly approaching.  CMU Jazz Festival is February 11 and our 4th Annual Night of Jazz Dinner Dance is February 12.  The following information should cover most of the details for those two days.  If you have any further questions please call or email me.

CMU Jazz Festival, Friday February 11:

• Bus leaves promptly at 8:00 AM
• The students must wear nice blue jeans and our band polo shirts.
• Performance is at 9:40 am  in the University Center Rotunda Room
• Masterclass at 12 NOON by legendary sax player Bob Mintzer in CMU School of Music Auditorium
• Lunch at University Center, students must bring money for lunch $5-$10 should be plenty
• Awards concert by CMU Jazz Lab I  starts at about 5:00 PM
• Bus returns at approximately 6:30 PM
• If students must return earlier, they must work out their own transportation home and I must have written documentation of what their plans to get home. Visual and verbal confirmation, upon leaving Mt. Pleasant, from a parent will also suffice.
• Optional; Free Tickets for the evening performance (8pm) by legendary sax player Bob Mintzer can be obtained from me if you would like to attend.

Jazz Dinner Dance, Saturday February 12:

• Tickets Due Monday, February 7 (All jazz students were given 6, the must return the tickets or the money for the tickets they sold)
• Sound Check promptly at 4pm Saturday Afternoon
• Dress will be Concert Band Uniforms (Tux or Dress)
• Dinner sometime after
• Performance begins at about 6:00 pm
• Pro Band performs at about 7:30 pm
• Evening Completed at about 9:00pm
• Jazz Band Students help with clean up
