- Engaging opening: Falling in love made a big difference in both “The Bass,the River,and Sheila Mant” and “Catch the Moon.”
- Background information: In the fist story narrator has a big crush on Sheila mant the prettiest girl he has ever met. One day he finally asks her out on a date and she agrees to go. Sheila does not like fishing at all. What Sheila does not know is that fishing is the narrators favorite hobby. The narrator lets a big mass go away after finding out she hates fishing. While at the fair Sheila met another guy with a nice car and left the narrator. In the story “Catch the Moon” Luis just came out of juvenile hall and has to work for his dad for 6 months. He is to polish hubcaps. While out one night he stops at the “Ramirez Funeral Home” were his mother had been just a little before she passed away. He met a girl that made him value certain thing and people in his life.

- Main character: The main character in this story is actually no one better but the own narrator W.D Wetherell.
- Main conflict and resolution: The main conflict in this story was that the narrator wanted to impress a girl he had a crush on for such a long time. When he finally got her to go out on a date with him he wanted to show her how good of a fisher he was but then found out she hated fishing.
- How the main character changes: In this story the character changes by first letting go of what he enjoyed the most but at the end did not benefit him. The girl in the story left him for some other guy.
- Theme: In this story we learn that when people are in love it is better to be ones self instead of changing to try to impress anyone. Also that the person should like us for who we are and not for someone we are not and by doing that we can find out if the person really cares about us.
Body Paragraph for “Catch the Moon”
- Main character: The main characters in the story “ Catch the Moon” are a young boy named Luis and a girl named Noami.”
- Main conflict and resolution: Luis’s mom died after getting incredibly sick and not being able to recover. Luis had trouble forgetting about it. One night while driving he happened to stop in front of the Ramirez Funeral home were he could not stop crying. While going through the thoughts he realized he should get the hubcap he needed for Noami and that maybe it was not so bad cleaning all the hubcaps for his dad.
- How the main character changes:By doing that he noticed he was able to love and care for other people that were in his life.
- Theme: This story’s message is that people should be able to care about them selves first and always but still have consideration and care for others involved in there lives as well.
Conclusion Paragraph
- Restate your thesis statement: Love can cause people to do things that they normally do not do. In both stories mentioned above both males changed for a girl. One male changes but benefits nothing and the other male changes and learns that he should care for the people involved in his life.
- Summarize your main ideas: The main Idea in the story comparison is about both of the story's both have to make a decision in the end of the story.
