Tet & Tri News

Whaddon Chase Pony Club Tet & Triathlon

The weekend of 20/21st October saw the Whaddon Chase Pony Club Tet & Triathlon and unusually those taking part in the Tri, could choose to swim or ride. Herts Hunt was well represented in a large and competitive field across the classes.

Our under 8 tri competitors both finished in the ribbons; Teddy a fantastic 4th place, thanks to a solid performance in the run and a clear round on sister Amelia’s Pony Rusty. Grace finished with a well-earned 5th place, having jumped the course without being led.

The Herts Hunt Tadpoles tri team came 4th overall, with Kristian shooting well and giving a determined ride, sadly thwarted by pig fillers. Lewis achieved a personal best in the swim, while Seb achieved a sound result in the run. Special mention to Fiachra; who gave a solid all round performance in his first ever tri, in addition to competing up an age group!

The Mini Tet team of Emma, Freya, Saoirse and Mae also came 4th.  Emma won the Swim, coming 2nd overall, while Mae showed great determination, to complete her run, despite a hip injury and put in a gutsy ride. Freya made her return to Tri after year off and in this her first Tet, had a great run.  This was also the first Tet for Saoirse and she jumped a lovely round despite being kept waiting for several hours.

Amelia Fogden competed up an age group in the Mini Tri, gaining a Personal Best in the shoot and gaining a clear round in the ride.

Herts Hunt also had good representation in the Junior Tri; Jasmine achieving a well-deserved 3rd overall, thanks to a lovely clear round on Flurry over a 3ft course. Liberty Fogden also achieved a ribbon position with 5th overall; both girls being close to the winning point’s total.

Lastly, we should not forget the sterling efforts of our parent competitors; Brian Killin and Lucy Kearvell. Brian finished in 1st Place, with Lucy a creditable 4th. Both shot well, single handed with turning targets, with Brian consolidating his position on the run.

OBH Chilterns Triathlon – 29th April 2012

On one of the coldest, windiest and wettest days of the year so far a gallant troop gathered in Chesham for the OBH Chilterns Triathlon.  Herts Hunt was well represented with entries in the Under 8’s, Tadpole Boys, Mini Girls, Junior Girls, Gentlemen and Ladies classes.

The Under 8s team of Teddy Fogden, Henry Atkins, Grace Kearvell and Isabelle Engestrom put in a sterling performance in a large field to get the team 3rd place, especially well done to Grace and Isabelle competing for the first time.

The Tadpole Boys scooped all the prizes with Kristian Lindsay winning the shoot in his very first competition and achieving first place overall.  Sebastian Weston won the swim and the run and tied with Lewis Janes for second overall.  The boys also took the team first prize – well done!

The Mini Girls team of Emma Killin, Saoirse Bermingham and Amelia Fogden came first overall with Emma triumphing in the swim and placed second overall.  Saoirse competing for the first time came 6th overall.  Special mention goes to Amelia who competed in an older age group to make up the team.  Another great result girls!

Liberty Fogden was our only competitor in the Junior Girls but won the shoot and achieved a very credible 4th place overall.

In the Gentleman’s competition Brian Killin won the shoot and the swim and achieved first place overall with Mike Atkins gaining a pb in the swim and  4th place overall.  The Ladies class was overrun with Herts Hunt and the team came first with Lucy Kearvall coming 2nd, Tracey Williamson 3rd, Caroline Killin 4th and Jane Engestrom  5th.  Well done to Jane, Lucy and Tracey who were also competing for the first time.

Although the weather was dreadful the spirits of the Herts Hunt competitor’s was high, ably assisted by George Killin and Maddie Weston as mascots.  Thank you to Caroline as manager, Brian as loader and all other parents/relatives who cheered and supported everyone on.
