03/09/10 My First Day at School Natalie
The night before school I felt extremely excited, because now I am officially a proud secondary student. I also felt a little bit worried because I am not sure if I have everything ready. My hopes before the brand new day starts were I could meet and make lovely friends, the teachers will be super kind and I hope that it will be awesome and fun at school. Although I have hopes but I still have worries, my worries are: there will be lots of homework, will I actually pass the tests, are the teachers nice and will the canteen food be delicious. I was feeling nervous about school; I couldn’t even sleep as if I am in a fantastic dream.
Before actually study in this school I knew few things about this school, the facts are: this school is a small school and was surrounded by lots of green environment, this school have small classes in each year group, most of my good and best friends are studying to this school and my secondary school is a new school. I have actually visited this school before because my primary school is joint to this school, so I have lots of chances to visit here. After all the visits to my secondary school I am not nervous about anything. In the past I’ve never heard any bad things about my secondary school but people did told me that teachers are nice, there’s good food there and it will be actually great there.
When I woke up in the morning at 7:00 am, I felt happy and excited to be back at school days because I felt very bored in summer holidays. I actually decided to double checked my bag if I got everything in my bag, because I was so worried about the preparation for school. The time that I woke up was terrible because I don’t normally get up at 7:00 am and I normally get up at 10:00 am in the summer holidays. When I was dressing up I did it quicker then before because I need to walk to the location that I get on the school bus. While I was dressing up I was quiet and calm because I know it is just dressing up so don’t be silly about it. After dressing up I had a wonderful breakfast and I know today I will feel lovely butterflies flying beautifully around me because it is the first day of secondary school. My family treated me really happily and excited and told me don’t worry is just the first day of school!
Getting to school was quite easy because I just walked to a particular location and then I just go to school by bus. The school bus leaves at 7:45 am- 7:50 am so I need walk to the location on time. I went walking with one or two of my family members and just go on the school bus with my old friends. When the small thin door on the bus bangs! I know a gorgeous adventure will start less than an hour. While we were having this exciting ride to school I talked to my friends about what I had bought and how cool it was to be a secondary student.
When I had arrived at my secondary school I felt like jumping excitedly around because I don’t know what is going to happen on the first day. Then I saw Mr. White the Head of School standing in front of the hall welcoming us. Just then he asked us “If we were excited?” We answered “Yes, Of course!” We waited in front of the hall for other students’ arrival, so I just talked to my friends about which class we were in and about how we came to school- in which bus- with who while waiting for other students’ arrival.
The day itself was perfect because I could meet new teachers and new classmates. Firstly all Y7 students were all needed to go in to the hall and listen to a informational speech from Mr. White. He told us about what to do this year and told us what does is actually mean to be a secondary student. I found that this talk is very useful to me because it told me what the school is expecting me to do for this year. After the important talk, Mr. White introduced our form teachers what kind of teacher are they, for example: drama teacher, maths teacher or a P.E teacher.
My form teacher was Ms. Goldthorpe, she’s a drama teacher and an English teacher. I have new classmates in my class and I was surprised that a lot of classmates are from my primary school. Ms. Goldthorpe loves all of us to be always well organized and the best class, so she explained lots of information about what to do for packing our important materials for lessons. There were lots of information to take in because we are new students, so we spent the whole day talking about the information, there were all about strict rules, lessons for each day and location of each lesson’s classroom.
When it was break time and lunch it wasn’t like other secondary schools (a disaster there) but there were less people, but I still have to queue up for buying lunch or snack. I ate the hot lunch set and drank a drink, while I was eating my lunch I was chatting to my friends about our form teachers and what we each did in class. My opinion is that the lunch was too much for me but the lunch was still the best.
The differences between secondary school and primary school, the difference are: there are lot more people eating together, there are smaller amount of places to play, there are not only one or two class rooms to go to but now there is a lot, there are more subjects to learn and there are more buildings around the school. Some of my worries and expectation had justified, they are: preparation for school, teachers aren’t nice, the food weren’t yummy and not fun there. I do have some confusions and misunderstanding of the rooms around school because I wasn’t sure in the C block is the smaller numbered room closer to the stairs or is it the other way around.
By the end of the day I felt very relaxed and relieved as if I am in heaven because the first day is over, but I do feel happy meeting teachers and new students around school because if I know them all then is easier to communicate with them. When I had arrived to home by bus, I quickly walked back home because the sun was a red burnt hot potato so I hardly can play outdoor. After I arrived home I wasn’t tired at all because I am interested and excited for the lesson day which is the next day! When I arrived at home my family asked “If school was good?” “Of course, how couldn’t it not be good” I replied. I had enjoyed the day because I liked school and I had started a new adventure. I would feel very comfort to go back to school because I will get my marvelous and the most wait-able Macbook and I will be experiencing secondary school days with lessons.
Looking back what I did at the first day of school I am feeling joyful and proud of myself because I am now a secondary student not a primary student anymore. I will remember mostly when I had arrived at school and when I met my friends and lots other teacher around school.
Mainly, I had enjoyed and felt very great about that day. I hope when I am going to collage or university I will have this feeling too.
