Call for Papers/Call for Submissions

The Riverside Quarterly is accepting submissions for its inaugural Summer 2021 issue.

A multidisciplinary, open access, advertisement-free journal, The Riverside Quarterly is dedicated to serving the growing global creative class. We are accepting original articles, research digests, interviews, reviews, and opinion pieces [between 750 & 2500 words in length] that explore the art and practice of creativity.

Focusing primarily on the arts, education, and business, we seek to present our readers with the most compelling ideas, insights & scholarship available in these areas. Our goal is to enlarge and amplify the global dialogue on creativity by providing our readership with a source for quality, usable, information.

An Online Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference

August 10-12, 2021, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Our conference this year focuses on how societies, both contemporary and historical, determine what to let go of and how. We invite submissions for papers (15-20 min) from across the disciplines that engage critically with issues related to physical, technological, and social disuse, including those that engage with the ideologies of progress that frame these issues, particularly in the light of apocalyptic events like the current pandemic. Dimensions National Pilot Project: Participate in our survey!

Ryerson University is participating in a national pilot project called

Dimensions, which seeks to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion in

the Scholarly Research and Creative Practice ecosystem. You can learn

Ryerson's Dimensions program is exploring Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) challenges and solutions Faculty by Faculty.  FCAD's Dimensions initiatives are led by Dr Reem El Asaleh from the School of Graphic Communications Management.  Several

events, including an online town hall, are planned for later this semester.

Ryerson's Dimensions program is surveying graduate students in all

Faculties regarding EDI issues in the SRC ecosystem.  Your views and

experiences are very important and we encourage you to take part in the

online survey.  Participation is anonymous. Here is the link to the survey

First Derivatives Virtual Confidence Bootcamp

Grant Writing for Graduate Students, March 3, 2021 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

A small workshop designed for approximately 5-10 participants that provides instruction and strategies for successful academic and non-academic grant writing. The workshop will involve informal lecture by instructor Nathaniel Brunt and short presentations by participants. Drones in the Library: Creating Data Through Photogrammetry, March 23, 2021 | 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

In this installment of the Drones in Library series, Jimmy Tran and Dan Jakubek will take you through the process of creating orthomosaics, digital terrain/surface models, point cloud datasets and 3D meshes. The process of Aerial Photogrammetry will be described using Pix4D Capture to outline the flight planning process. A live demonstration of Drone2Map software will follow to illustrate the processing workflows necessary for data creation. Registration.
