BROWN LEDGE CAMP

JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Chef

REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager

OVERVIEW: Brown Ledge Camp is seeking a motivated and experienced Chef for the summer season. We feed about 275 people three times per day on a set schedule. More details about our camp can be found at www.brownledge.org.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work with the other Chef to create and implement menus.
  2. Assure that all food and personal safety policies are followed.
  3. Train and supervise a diverse group of international kitchen assistants.
  4. Help campers and staff with special dietary concerns.
  5. Keep the kitchen and dining area clean, support trash and compost removal
  6. Able to stay calm, cool, and collected in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  7. Maintain high standards of physical and emotional safety for all campers and staff. Discuss any issues with camp nurses and/or camp directors when appropriate.

Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Physical Aspects of the Job: This job requires the ability to lift fifty pounds unassisted, stand for long periods, prepare foods quickly and safely, and interact appropriately and respectfully with the campers and staff.

Job Perks:

Pay: Pay starts at $1,000 per week.
