STATEWIDE PROGRAM THEMES

Programming within TAO provides avenues for both members and the tech community to build connections, share expertise and establish a collective industry voice.  Introduced in 2016 as ‘Labs’, the TAO Program Themes have evolved as priority areas within the tech community.  TAO and its member companies serve as subject matter experts and thought leaders across cybersecurity, digital health, education & talent development and smart cities. Since creating these ‘Labs’ or themes, we have made great strides in a variety of ways: spearheading policy changes, hosting an international conference, connecting public workforce boards, economic development & industry.  As a supporter of these themes, you will not only be seen as an advocate for these trending topics in tech, but also have ongoing opportunities to serve as a thought leader on subjects that are important to your client base.

INCLUSIVITY LAB

Senior leaders within the tech industry have spoken - diversity and inclusion (D&I) is not a siloed HR challenge or initiative.  Efforts to create inclusive workplaces must come from the top down and include all business units within companies.

With a large network of tech executives within its membership the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) is in a position to create positive change among local tech companies.  Additionally, TAO regularly works with partners from workforce, economic development, and educational organizations throughout the region and is ideally positioned to connect these resources to tech companies interested in D&I. Attendee eligibility for this Lab is based on professional criteria by role and responsibility within technology company and event sponsorship. Number of attendees will depend on topic, format and demand for the quarterly events.

TECHLANDIA

A yearly marketing piece for the Oregon technology industry to use when reaching out to prospective talent, clients, companies and funders. Techlandia extends the commitment of TAO beyond the Oregon and Southwest Washington technology community - utilizing online content - to establish and showcase Oregon as a global hub for innovation. It features interviews with emerging and established technology companies, articles on the latest industry trends and critical issues that are propelling Oregon’s technology ecosystem, and insights on living and working in Oregon.

Techlandia also profiles companies, professionals, places, and activities that make up the region's tech industry through curated content to provide prospective candidates with a richer picture of why pursuing a career in our region makes sense.  This interactive online guide is marketed beyond Oregon to career services departments at colleges and universities, as well as select professional networks and communities.  Member company sponsors at all levels are invited to provide input on target areas, schools or professional networks for outreach directly from TAO.

SALARY SURVEY

An anonymous annual survey for the Oregon and SW Washington technology industry will be launched in 2018.  Salary and complete compensation data is most useful when you have updated information from your local market and peers.  As the Silicon Forest continues to mature, the broad reach of participants involved in the TAO Salary Survey will support PNW tech companies, as well as our service providers with true data to drive their compensation decisions and offers.

As we relaunch this initiative in 2018, the curated data will be made available in late Summer to TAO member companies (at no cost), as well as non members (for purchase).

THOUGHT LEADER CONTENT

Companies and organizations can share their thought leadership pieces through our blog and targeted email blasts throughout the year.  Mutually agreeable content should be informational and assist the targeted audience with timely content that educates both the individual and their tech company.  Mailing list size and audience samples can be provided by request.
