CYR WHEEL INSTRUCTOR
Part-time position beginning Fall 2018 (5-10 hours per week). Hours projected to increase to 15 hours per week within 1 year. Ideal candidates must have, at minimum:
– expertise in Cyr Wheel and ability to demonstrate high-level technique
– experience teaching teens and adults
– willingness to relocate to, or weekly commute to, Philadelphia
We would also value:
– Cyr Wheel teaching certification
– other circus disciplines (if you have other disciplines that you can teach, we can offer more work hours)
– experience and interest in teaching kids
Thursdays 1:00pm-2:30pm, 11 weeks (Sept. 6 - Nov. 15, 2018)
Instructor must be able to teach photo composition, and the handling of different types of cameras; must also have comprehensive knowledge of Photoshop. Experience with movement photography (athletics, dance, circus) a plus.
Thursdays 1:00pm-2:30pm, 11 weeks (Nov. 29, 2018 - Feb. 21, 2019)
Instructor must be able to teach basic video composition, and the handling of different types of cameras; must also have comprehensive knowledge of Final Cut Pro. Experience creating demo reels and show teasers a plus.
COSTUME DESIGN INSTRUCTOR
Thursdays 1:00pm-2:30pm, 11 weeks (March 7, 2019 - May 16, 2019)
This course should include the basic elements of circus costume design and construction, and practice practical skills such as making hand repairs, using a sewing machine, and cutting cloth from a pattern. Instructor’s experience working with lycra and athletic wear a plus.
HIP-HOP DANCE INSTRUCTOR
Wednesdays, 4:00pm-5:30pm, September 5, 2018 - May 22, 2019)
Beginner / intermediate level, adult students (up to 25 students per class)
Classes take place in the dedicated dance studio at Circus Campus
LIGHTING TECH INSTRUCTOR
Mondays 12:00pm-1:30pm, 10 weeks (Nov. 26, 2018 - February 18, 2019)
Instructor must have extensive experience working with theatrical lighting systems. Students should learn basic equipment and terminology, and hands-on skills such as laying cord and installing gels. Work with the semi-permanent lighting system in our new facility, and give the students the basic vocabulary to work with an outside lighting designer, or program their own lights on a small scale.
SOUND TECH INSTRUCTOR
Mondays 12:00pm-1:30pm, 10 weeks (March 4, 2019 - May 13, 2019)
This course will be broken up into two parts, and applicants may have skills in one or both areas.
Part 1 (5 weeks) - sound concepts, working with theatrical equipment
Part 2 (6 weeks) - digital sound editing
Goals for the course will be to give the students the basic vocabulary to work with sound technicians in theaters, and to edit their own music.
HISTORY OF CIRCUS INSTRUCTOR
Thursdays 10:25am-11:55am, 10 weeks (Sept. 13, 2018 - Nov. 15, 2018)
Using texts, videos and photo studies, this course explores the rich history of circus arts throughout the world, from ancient history through the modern contemporary circus movement.
