Class Description:

Learn to express the excitement and joy of creating, shaping, and making objects on the wood lathe. Emphasis will be on developing the basic foundations of good technique and form, the importance of tool control, sharpening, and developing muscle memory.  Instruction will include a variety of skill-building exercises that lead into making a basic bowl, a spinning top, and a plate. Matt will discuss the ergonomics of an efficient and sustainable woodturning practice. All levels welcome.

Supply Information:

Your workshop includes a kit that will be provided by the instructor, including both dry and unseasoned end grain bowl and spindle blanks. Please bring a check for $40 made out to your instructor, to be collected at the first class meeting.

Instructors in woodworking will outline safety guidelines for students who are staying to work during open studio. The table saw is never to be used without the instructor present.  The use of all other power tools and equipment is limited and is at the discretion of your instructor.
