This week is Anti-bullying week and the theme is ‘Choose Respect’.
We have started the week by talking about how we show respect to each other in what we say, how we say it and what we do. Please take time to talk about how you show respect to each other at home or to strangers when out and about.
We will also discuss the difference between a one off incident and persistent incidents. We will talk about STOP = Several Times on Purpose acronym and who to talk to and what to do if we feel worried about bullying. The difference between friendly banter and when it goes too far.
Please remind your child to speak to us on the day if they are ever worried about something as it gives us chance to investigate things there and then and not the next day.
On Friday we will be looking at cyberbullying and I urge you as parents (especially year 5 and year 6) to monitor your children’s online gaming - not so much in terms of what they play (we all know they play fornite!) but in terms of how they talk to each other. Just stand outside the room and check what they are saying and please teach them ways to deal with children ‘trolling’ them or how to handle being ‘blocked’ from a game. Please challenge them if they are the ones trolling or blocking - I am sure, as parents, you would be horrified if they were the ones doing this.
If they have a mobile phone or own email at primary age it is a parent’s responsibility to check they are sending appropriate messages. Often children text something they think is funny but without the body language and lack of intonation it actual seem harsh. Again it is a parent’s job to teach these things and not assume they know.
INSET - this Friday 16th November
Just a reminder that school will be closed this Friday.
Parking - Let’s keep everyone safe.
Please can you all take care when parking and especially when reversing. I have had several complaints about near misses. This is not just in the village car park this has been near the village monument and at the bottom end of the school where there is a small section of road with no pavement.
Also can I please remind parents not to park on the yellow lines next to the bushes in the village car park, parking here stops families from entering and leaving safely.
School Discos - money raised going to Children in Need
A reminder the School Discos are this Wednesday.
Key Stage 1 will be straight after school and finishes at 4.15 please collect your child from their classrooms. If you have not completed the permission form please send this in by the end of Tuesday along with the payment.
Key Stage 2 starts at 6pm and will finish at 7.30, children pay on the door.
We are donating £1 from the price to Children in Need, if your children would like to wear Pudsey ears or any of the Children in Need accessories they can.
We look forward to seeing you there.
This week each child will be sent home with some raffle tickets for you to sell. This is part of the fundraising for the STEM area. If you do not need all of the tickets sent home please send them back to the office and we can pass them on to anyone who would like extras.
It is that time of year again when we ask you to please make sure your child has a coat every day. It would be helpful if it was waterproof as we keep getting caught out by quick showers of rain.
Please remember to log onto live Kitchen and take a look at the new lunch menu from dolce
