- Principal’s Report: Lyndsey Case asked for help to spread the word regarding NOT sending kids to school when feeling sick or someone at home is awaiting test results or sick also. She stated they are really trying to keep Hopkins healthy. Currently the rule at Hopkins is if 5 or more positive or presumed positive covid cases are present then the class is quarantined.
- Lyndsey stated that there is currently a problem with kids stealing items off of backpacks while at school and this has been going on for the past few weeks. Lyndsey just learned that this is part of a Tic Tok challenge (biggest in High Schools). She is asking parents to speak to your kids and keep eyes open to what kids are bringing home, what is on their Tic Toc (if this is relevant), and that she is going to speak to the kids this week also.
- Lyndsey spoke about conferences during the week of Oct 11th, 2 late nights on the 12th or 13th, and any help with food would be appreciated. Kathi asked about breakfast on Monday and 1 dinner on Tues and Pizza on Wed if enough in budget. Kathi will send the menu choices to Lyndsey for teachers to choose.
- Lyndsey stated that PBIS/ Mrs. Petrone has Conflict Managers set up once again (48 kids from 4th and 5th grades). Peer Mentors are in place for K-2nd grade and the other half of the peer mentor group is working on a community service project. PBIS assembly last week to kick off Kindness Character Trait and Top Hoppers (individual). Lyndsey also explained that the Top Hopper tickets (group/classroom) are earned outside of the classroom and if a classroom earns over 100 tickets they are rewarded with a party.
- President’s Report: Amber Pearson reported on the following:
- Spiritwear- the email has been sent to families and other reminders to come. Final order will be placed on Friday. Amber is thinking possibly one more order to be placed around Christmas.
- Amber stated she could not attend the PPC (PTO Presidents Council) Meeting today but Lyndsey gave a quick run down from what she saw on the agenda: conversations regarding masks are still taking place, making sure people are understanding why this is in place, etc. Also it was stressed that the district is not just focusing on Covid and it’s problems but rather getting back to learning and how to best address this and the needs of the schools, staff and students.
