OCTOBER 20, 2021 Campus Notification: COVID-19

The university recently received notification of two (2) separate, unrelated  individuals testing positive for COVID-19.

In the first case, an individual attended an off-campus clinical on October 14 while asymptomatic. They may have been potentially infectious with the virus while at the clinic. The university was notified of the positive result on October 20.

In the second case, an individual was on campus October 19 in the Murchie Science Building. They may have been potentially infectious with the virus when on campus. The university was notified of the positive result on October 20.

Contact tracing is being conducted and will continue in these cases. If anyone is identified as a “close contact” they will be contacted directly regarding any next steps.

We strongly encourage all members of the campus community to remain vigilant against COVID-19 by adhering to health and safety precautions designed to mitigate the spread of the virus. Additional information on staying safe can be found through your healthcare provider, The Centers for Disease Control, The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, and the Genesee County Health Department.
