How to Create a Quiz

- Go to Assessments then Exams and Quizzes.

- Click New Quiz.
- Before you start creating questions, check this D2L resource to find out more information on questions types and their use.

Create New Quiz Page

- Enter Quiz Name
- Click Not in Gradebook and select Edit or Link to Existing if you already have a grade item in your gradebook. Select Add to Grade Book for the quiz creator to automatically add it to the Grade Book
- Enter the amount of points
- Enter the due date (if applicable)
- Add description
- Add Existing to add the questions from the library
- Create New to create new questions
- Expend the additional menus:
- Availability Dates and Conditions: you can set start dates, end dates, release conditions, special access, quiz password

- Evaluation and Feedback - Quiz Results Display and more
- Enter your quiz Edit mode. Give a Name to the quiz and click on the button to Add/Edit Questions.
- Click New and select the type of question you want to create.
- Check this D2L resource to find out more information on questions types and their use.

- Enter the required information for your question. Depending on what question type you are using, you will have different options available to you. This example shows a true/false question.


- The Preview Panel on the right will show you the student’s view of the question. Be sure to include the Correct Answer and Point Value. Click on Options if desired, to add more information to your question.
- From the Options drop-down list, optionally, specify the following:
- To add feedback for each answer, select Add Feedback.
- To add a hint to the question, select Add Hint.
- To add a percentage weight for each answer, select Add Custom Weights. You can set different weights for each answer if some solutions are more correct than others.
- To add a short description to the question, select Add Short Description.
To select how you want your options to be enumerated, select an option from the Add Enumeration and then Enumeration drop-down list.

- Click Save when you are finished.
When you created your questions you will have some grading and other options for each question:

- Check the box in the top left to select all of the questions
- Check the box to each questions to select just individual questions
- Once selected you can use Move To option to move the questions to top/bottom of the quiz or specific section
- More Actions allows you to Delete, toggle questions as Bonus, toggle as Mandatory (students cannot submit the quiz without answering them) and set specific points to the particular question(s).
