Cohort description
There are ten children in Year 2 who are entitled to the pupil premium. Of these ten pupils, three have SEND needs and are post-CLA. One child in this cohort is now attending specialist provision.
One new PP pupil joined the school in January with SEND needs.
Overall PP attainment and progress
Half of this group passed phonics in Y1. Two more passed in Y2.
Attainment for these children as a group was lower than their peers, but progress individually from the EYFS starting point was typically good. For example, ⅚ children assessed as ‘Expected’ for Maths in Reception, reached ‘Expected’ in Y2. All children who reached their ELG in Reading, reached EXS in Y2 and 40% of those that were ‘Emerging’ in Reading made accelerated progress across KS1 to reach EXS in Y2.

- Most pupils making expected or accelerated progress
- Writing is a particular area of weakness with 4/9 pupils reaching EXS but a third at pre-KS.
- Some potential for GDS in the future!
- Attendance/punctuality is a major barrier for at least half of this group.
