Taking a Homework-Platform Exam with Honorlock
UAA | 2024
Homework platform exams also referred to as Third Party exams are exams that connect to publishers outside of Blackboard like MyOpenMath, Pearson, McGraw Hill Connect, Cengage, or XYZHomework.com. The screenshots below use MyOpenMath as a reference, but your exam steps should look similar.
Prepare to Use Honorlock
Read the UAA Honorlock Student Guidelines and follow the instructions to install the Honorlock browser extension. Make sure your exam setup matches:
- System requirements in the guidelines
- Your instructor’s specific requirements (e.g., private location, no notes)
If you use a password to log into the homework/exam platform, make sure you have that information ready to enter before you start this process! This is your personal login and password for that system, separate from the Honorlock password needed to open the exam. The second one is automatically entered when you go through the steps below; you won’t see what it is.
Access the Third Party Exam
- Close all applications and tabs on your computer.
- Open the Google Chrome browser and check that the Honorlock browser extension is installed.
- Log into Blackboard.
- Access the course shell and load the Honorlock LTI.
- Launch the exam from the Honorlock Exam list. It will say Third Party next to all exams not registered through the Blackboard exam registration procedure.

- This will pop up a window with a link to the 3rd party website that is hosting the exam. Click the “Open Site” button to launch that site.

- Log into the platform. Some platforms will log you in directly from Blackboard; others require your username or email and password. Your instructor should provide the Course ID and Enrollment key if they are required.
- Find the exam you wish to take and click on it.

- Click the button in the Honorlock window that says “I have found my exam.”

- Click inside the password field.

- Click the button on the Honorlock popup that says “Unlock Exam.” Clicking this button will autofill the password field for the students.

- Your password field should be filled now.

- If the password field was not selected when you click Unlock Exam, you will get the error shown below. Click “Okay,” then repeat steps 10 - 12.

- If the password auto fill is successful, click the start button to begin the exam.

- If the password auto fill is not successful, log out, close your browser, and restart this process. If it does not work after repeated attempts:
- Contact UAA Technical Support Center (check the webpage for support hours).
- Call 907-786-4646 (or 877-633-3888 for toll-free)
- Text "SUPPORT" to 844-705-0262
- If you are taking the test outside the UAA Technical Support Center hours, contact Honorlock LiveChat for assistance.
- If technical support cannot resolve the issue, contact your instructor for guidance.
