Nationals 2020

Match organised by New Zealand Service Rifle Association and assisted by CNIGC at the NZDA range in Rotorua.

The competition will be held on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th, and Sunday 12th April 2020.

There will be a Modern Service Class for qualifying bolt action rifles (including pump action rifles), Classic Service Class for iron sighted bolt action rifles, and an Open Class for any other rifles. If you are unsure about your rifle then email the tech committee. nzsratech@gmail.com

Ammunition: Any projectile type and weight allowed.

.22 rifle Class: any semi auto with any scope allowed.

Registration and scrutineering is on Friday from 10.00 am. Shooting starts from 12.00 on Friday and 9.00 am both other days.

Squadding: Where possible open class rifles with muzzle brakes will be squadded together.

Support: 100 no support. 200 support is slings only in all classes.

300 support is slings, sandbags/daypack for Classic Service Class, and slings, sandbags/daypack, or bipods for both Open Class and Modern Service Class. NB: Due to current circumstances, Canadian prone is no longer possible, so please do not bring a modified 30 round magazine to the Nationals.

Please note that new rifle classes, along with new permitted scopes, ammunition and other changes are being introduced for the Nationals but will not be written into the Service Match Code until such time as NZSRA have exhausted all avenues towards obtaining a sporting exemption.

There will be medals presented for each match, assuming we receive sufficient entries in each class.

Match 1: Application

Position:        Prone

Rounds:        10 plus 2 or more sighters Time:                90 Seconds.

Procedure:                Sighters first. Start in the prone position. When your target appears fire your 10 shots.

Time:        10 exposures of 4 seconds, approx 5 secs between exposures, 15 secs after 5th for reloading

Procedure:                Start in the prone Position. When your target appears fire 1 shot per exposure.

Match 3: Rapid

Time:        1 exposure of 60 secs.

Procedure:                Start in standing alert position. When your target appears drop to the prone position and fire your 10 shots.

Time:        5 exposures of 10 secs, varies 5 to 25 secs between exposures.

Day 2, Saturday 11th

100 Metres

Match 5: Rapid

Position:        Prone

Rounds,        10 plus 2 sighters

Time:        60 Seconds.

Procedure:                2 sighters first. Start in the prone position. Upon the command fire your 10 shots.

Match 6: Trinity

Position:        Standing, Sitting, Squatting or Kneeling, Prone Target:        Fig 12

Rounds:        15

Time:        3x1 exposure of 1 minute

Procedure:                5 shots standing, 5 shots sitting or keeling, 5 shots prone, 1 minute per position. Each position will be called, with time to reload.

Match 7: Macarena

Position:        Standing

Target:        Fig 12.

Rounds:        10

Time:        5 exposures of 10 secs, approx 5 secs between exposures, 10 seconds pause after 2nd and 4th exposure for reloading.

Procedure:        Start in Standing Alert Position. Upon the command fire 1 shot standing, then 1 shot kneeling per exposure. Then return to the standing alert.

Match 8: Officer and Grunts

Position:        Prone

Target:        1 steel plate and Fig 12

Rounds:        12

Time:        60 secs.

Procedure:                Start in the standing alert position with your rifle loaded. Upon command drop to the prone position and engage the steel plate first. After the plate has been knocked over, fire you remaining rounds on the figure 12. Plate scores a Vee bull. Up to 9 further hits on the fig 12 will count for score. Extra hits will be deducted low-high.

Match 9: Action M

Position:        Standing, Prone, Kneeling/Sitting Target:        Fig 12.

Rounds:        10 in 2 stripper clips or magazines Time:        75 secs.

Procedure:                Start with a rifle loaded with 5 rounds, with the bolt closed on an empty chamber. Rifle placed on mat with the shooter standing at the rear of the mat. On command drop to prone and fire 2 rounds, stand and fire 2 rounds, drop to the sitting or kneeling position and fire 1 round, reload, then fire another round, then stand and fire 2 rounds, then prone and fire your last 2 rounds.

Time:        10 X 4 second exposures

Procedure:        Start in the sitting position. Upon the command fire your shot. There will be time to reload after the 5th exposure.

Match 12: Officer and Grunts

Position:        Prone

Target:        1 Plate at 100 metres and Fig 12.

Rounds        12 rounds

Time:        1 exposure of 60 secs.

Procedure:                Start in the standing alert position with your rifle loaded. Upon command drop to the prone position and engage the steel plate first. After the plate has been knocked over, fire you remaining rounds on the figure 12. Plate scores a Vee bull. Up to 9 further hits on the fig 12 will count for score. Extra hits will be deducted low-high.

At the conclusion of the days shooting there will be a meal provided. The AGM of the NZSRA will follow that.

Day 3 Sunday 12th

Day 3 will count towards your overall score and will be shot with a .22 long rifle semi- automatic rifle only.

Match 13 CQB Match

Position:        Prone @ 100, Sitting @ 75, kneeling @ 50, Standing @25 Target:        Fig 12:

Procedure:        Start standing, then on command drop to the prone position and fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds. Once your rifle has been cleared, on the command from the RO move to 75 metres. On command drop to the sitting position and fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds. Once your rifle has been cleared, on the command from the RO move to the 50 Metre position. On command drop to the kneeling or squatting position and fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds. Once your rifle has been cleared, on the command from the RO move to the 25 metre position. From the standing alert position, on command fire 5 rounds in 10 seconds.

Match 14: Rapid Continuous Trinity

Position:        Standing, Kneeling, Squatting or Sitting, and Prone Target:        Fig 12.

Rounds        30 in 3 magazines of 10 Time:        90 seconds total exposure

Procedure:                Start in the standing alert position. Upon command fire 10 rounds in the standing position, move to the Kneeling, Squatting or Sitting position, Reload and fire your next 10 rounds. Move to the prone position, reload, and fire your last 10 rounds.

At the conclusion of the days shooting there will be a BBQ provided, while the prize giving is organised.
