How's life and ladder? -
Edelweiss - Hades 2 and Good Shaman
Wickedgood -
Magesa - Not only reached legend, but reached top 500! Mostly handbuff pally, also some lightshow mage (which is really burn spell mage), more on those below! (huge handbuff, wishing well rogue, facing Edel, four malfunctions)
News Highlights -
- Deepminer Brann: 6 mana -> 8 mana
- Saddle Up: 3 mana -> 4 mana
- Twist season announcement
- Arena
- In-Game Event: Dr. Boom’s Aisle of Mischievous Toys
- Bug fixes
- Dev Comment: As we continue iterating on our progression system, and our communications around it, we’re working on some updates that didn’t quite make it into this patch. Our next Weekly Quest update is planned for the next scheduled client patch, Patch 29.4.2.
- [Hearthstone] Updated Photographer Fizzle to now load his Snapshot in existing hand order instead of timestamp order (meaning, for example, Mini cards will appear where they are in your hand when the Snapshot is taken, even though they were added to your hand later than other cards).
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where The Headless Horseman unfroze upon drawing Horseman’s Head (finding your head is nice, but your body’s still on ice).
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where a Cosplay Contestant cosplaying as Magtheridon, Unreleased would trigger its Dormant effect twice each turn. That’s not canon!
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Spirit of the Badlands’s Mirage can create an extra, fake Mirage in hand—that was a bit too immersive.
- [Shop] Fixed a bug where Mac desktop clients couldn’t access the Shop.
- [Resolved] [Hearthstone] Blazing Transmutation has been unbanned.
- [Hearthstone] Sock Puppet Slitherspear doesn’t gain attack from Weapons.
- [Updated] [Hearthstone] The team is investigating reports that Boom Wrench might be causing client freezes. Update: it appears the freeze is only for some devices and is brief–waiting it out appears to resolve the issue.
- [Hearthstone] Auras, Sigils, and other persistent effects don’t stack when they should if replayed by cards like Jotun or Tess.

Decksplanations
Mini decksplanations!
We don’t feel ready to give full decksplanations for anything this week, but we wanted to highlight a few decks and give you some brief tips on each!
All decklists mentioned are here
Handbuff Pally (HSR link)
- Elevator Pitch: big dudes, more big dudes, even more big dudes
- Variants: hi ho silverwing, acolyte of pain, zilliax twin power
- Macro Gameplan: Your charge damage should be something you count and keep in mind for lethal, but isn’t necessarily your main damage source; you’re just trying to keep making bigger and bigger threats, and then charge can finish them off
- Mulligan: you need a weapon (tech > weapon); panner is also good. Conditionally: protector, audio medic, deckhand. Outfitter and muscle-o-tron are common but seemingly mediocre keeps
- Things to keep in mind/pitfalls to avoid:
- You have a lot of lifesteal rush comeback; take advantage of it and think ahead to where they’ll be buffed to so you know what you can clear
- You don’t want to run out of stuff, so try to keep your draw alive if you can
- Tips on specific cards/matchups:
- Ignis: I’ve mostly used the 1 mana weapon for clears, but you can also use it for extra reach if need-be. And it gives you another weapon for deckhand. Just don’t forget you need to find time to forge a muscle-o-tron if you want to Ignis
- Keeper’s: this card is super crucial vs aggro, be smart about how you use it. Also do be aware if Magatha is likely to give it to your opponent and if she does, remember that can absolutely clear your board depending on your opponent
- Amitus can be useful for all three of her abilities; buff for a bit of extra damage or resilience, but also she can draw if you need it or shrink if you need it
- Small board advantages in board-based matchups really help! I lost a mirror to a turn 2 coined un-buffed outfit tailor
- Speaking of outfit tailor, think of her as additional charge damage
- Remember you have to use the first half of Tarim before you can use the second
Good Shaman (and something else if desired)
- Elevator Pitch:
- Variants:
- Macro Gameplan:
- Mulligan:
- Things to keep in mind/pitfalls to avoid:
- Tips on specific cards/matchups:
Reno Priest
- Elevator Pitch:
- Variants:
- Macro Gameplan:
- Mulligan:
- Things to keep in mind/pitfalls to avoid:
- Tips on specific cards/matchups:
Lightshow Mage
- Elevator Pitch: Burn, baby burn!
- Variants: some people omit the cross stitch; infinitize the maxitude
- Macro Gameplan: It’s not really a lightshow deck. To quote Waalou: “Use your mana, burn their face. You have plenty of draw and generation.” I’d add: and keep their board under control. E.g., if you’re facing an aggro pally, you probably focus on that
- Mulligan: KEYBOARD is by far your best hit. Keep spot the difference if you have keyboard. Maybe keep Manufacturing Error. Conditionally keep Malfunction.
- Things to keep in mind/pitfalls to avoid:
- Tips on specific cards/matchups:
- Usually wait for stargazing on 5 unless you need malfunction early
- Same with elemental companion
- Ordering with lightshow
- It’s all about thinking about what you want to discover
- Never keep void scripture, but if you draw it early, don’t hold it if your other option is HP, need to keep the pressure on and find as much dmg as possible
Quick mentions of other decks you might want to check out:

- Spell Damage Druid ft. Dorian (Clark has a tweet demonstrating the combo)
- Secret Hunter
- Highlander Hunter, Shaman, Paladin, Druid (or, yes, Warrior)
- Painlock (add INFERNAL!)
- Rainbow Buff DK
- S*** Rogue: It’s still dubious for most players, but Dubious Purchase helps a lot
- Holy Forge (Edel Special, untested): AAECAZ8FBI3+BdiBBviUBvi9Bg2cnwTunwSS1ASh1ASt7QW++wW9/AW8jwaOlQaGowbqqQbBtgbUuAYAAA==
