Code Combat

Learn programming with a multiplayer live coding strategy game. You're a wizard, and your spells are JavaScript or Python

GETTING STARTED

  • Go to this link: http://codecombat.com/hoc
  • No sign up should be necessary.
  • Students type the code needed to move their character through the dungeon quests.
  • The built-in tutorials will guide the students through the challenges.

Code Girl

Coding is not just for guys. Learn about some women that are using code to change the world. Then explore the world of code as you try out some of the different projects.

GETTING STARTED

  • Go to https://www.madewithcode.com/ and watch the film.
  • Go to the MENTORS section and select one mentor video to watch as a group.
  • Clicking “More Projects” will let you select from a list of different coding challenges and activities.
  • You are encouraged to work together and share ideas and troubleshooting tips.

Hour of Code: Minecraft

Uses Hour of Code website. Just follow the directions on the videos at the website to work through the challenges.  

NOTE: This is not actually Minecraft, which requires purchasing an account, but rather it uses components of the Minecraft world to help you work through the Hour of Code challenges.
