POSITION: Organic Farm Intern / Farm Hand
DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER
Teter Organic Farm is a diversified vegetable farm in Noblesville, Indiana along the White River. We grow over 30 different vegetables and herbs for a Community Supported Agriculture Project, Farmers Market, and donations to local food pantries. Our mission is to “Do Good. Eat Well” and we are focused on building community, ecological stewardship, and farming as a positive force for change in our community. Teter Organic Farm is a part of Nobleville First United Methodist Church - all employees are legally employees of Noblesville First United Methodist Church.
The Organic Farm Intern / Farm Hand will work on a wide variety of Organic farming tasks under the direction of the Farm Manager, be enthusiastic about working outdoors and learning about all aspects of organic vegetable production, and be able to perform physically demanding manual labor in adverse weather conditions. We place a strong emphasis on creating a practical learning environment where interns can ask questions and gain hands-on farming experience.
The daily tasks performed by the Organic Farm Intern / Farm Hand will include planting, weeding, watering the greenhouse, harvesting and processing field crops, and occasional mowing or assistance with the Farmers Market or other weekend events. The Organic Farm Intern / Farm Hand will also assist with grounds maintenance tasks as needed related to all aspects of the 120-acre retreat center property. The position may include tractor operation depending on intern experience level, aptitude, and farm needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
FLSA: This is a part time hourly, seasonal agricultural position that does not provide medical benefits or overtime pay.
AGE: Must be at least 16 years old.
