GOLF TECHNICAL PACKAGE
NLGAMES 2020 Bay Roberts
Technical Packages for the NLGames are developed by the Provincial Sport Organization governing each respective sport. Athletes must be registered member in good standing with Golf Newfoundland Labrador and hold a Golf Canada/Golf NL membership card. Athletes must be eligible to compete at the 2021 Canada Summer Games. Athletes must have competed at the 2018, 2019 and/or 2020 Provincial Championships and/or Tely Tour.
All athletes must be in compliance with regulations governing regional eligibility as per NLGames Policy in Section 16 of this Technical Package.
4. AGE CLASSIFICATION
Born between August 2 2002 and August 1 2007 (age 13-18 during Games).
5. PARTICIPANTS PER REGION
Minimum team size = 2 athletes.
Minimum team size = 3 athletes.
In regions with less than three players to field a team, the players will be eligible to compete for the individual awards.
5.2 COACHING / MANAGERIAL STAFF
1 female coach
1 male coach
6. STAFF SELECTION
All staff must be at least 19 years of age as August 1 2020. Individuals should obtain a Community Coach certification if possible.
7. REGIONAL QUALIFIERS
Qualifiers for all regions are set for Sunday June 27 2020.
8. REGIONAL CONTACTS
For all regions other than Labrador contact Technical Chairs as per Section 1
9. REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Each regional team must be registered with the Host by July 31 2020 through an online registration system that will be provided by the Host.
10. GAMES-TIME MEETINGS
One coach or staff representative from each region and each sport is required to attend the following meetings in the Host region at the commencement of the NLGames:
Chaired by SportNL and including brief presentations from the Host Committee - will cover logistical information on transportation, accommodations, food services, entertainment, venues, etc.
Chaired by the Convenor of your sport - will cover sport-specific technical information for your competition.
All competition is sanctioned by the Royal Canadian Golf Association. The Rules for this competition will be governed by the The RCGA Rules of Golf 2019.
Final schedules will be posted on www.nlgames.ca in early August after regional teams are selected and registration is completed.
Tentative schedule overview as follows:
PRACTICE Round Shotgun Start August 19
DAY 1 August 21: Competition (18 holes)
DAY 2 August 22: Competition (18 holes) / Medal Presentations
Will be presented to each regional team member of the first, second and third place finishers male and female.
Golf NL will provide and award a gold, silver and bronze medal to the top three males and females based on the lowest gross scores at the end of the competition.
15. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
15.1 Competition Format
Two day competition, 18 hole stroke play format with gross scores of lowest three male finishers each day and lowest two female finishers each day to be combined to determine top team finishers.
Tie Breaking Procedures
Sudden victory hole by hole play off with play-off holes to be posted in advance of the tournament.
