Fri. 11/2: 3:30 pm Google Tools for Everyday Tasks: Part 1 Do you find yourself struggling in the digital world? Do you wish you knew how to use tools that would empower you to send and receive email, search the Internet for information and create written documents that you could save and organize? If so, this class is for you! The Google Drive suite will be covered in this three part series. Students in the class will learn how to use a variety of tools in this hands-on class. They will also be able to progress through the trainings at their own learning speed and receive help when needed from the teacher. There is no charge for this training, but registration is required as slots in the series of classes are limited.
Sat. 11/3: 2 pm Paint with Steve Duprey Participants in this class with local artist, Steve Duprey, will create a beautiful painting to keep. All materials for the painting are included in the class. Thanks to funding from Friends of Macedon Public Library the materials fee is only $20 for the first 13 people who register for the class. All others will pay $30 to attend. Space is limited. Wed. 11/7: 6 pm Keeping Plastic and Prescriptions Out of the Water Join Hanna Ring from the Citizens Campaign for the Environment for this informative presentation. Ring will discuss two pervasive threats to New York’s treasured waterways and the immense negative impacts pharmaceutical and single-use plastic pollution have on the environment, wildlife, and health. Learn about safe pharmaceutical disposal and how to curb harmful plastic pollution to keep the Erie Canal and other water sources in our area safe for life.

Sat. 11/10: Noon-5 pm Five Hour Driving Course for New Drivers To schedule a road test in New York State, one must first take a pre-licensing class. An instructor from the Morgan School of Driving will be offering this course to pre-licensed drivers who present their NYS issued photo permit. Anyone who is only able to produce an interim permit (temporary), must present either a NYS government-issued photo non-driver's ID, an expired NYS photo permit, or an expired NYS photo driver's license. The fee to take the course has been reduced to $45. Advance registration for the course is required. The class will be canceled if less than 8 people register to take it.
Sat. 11/10: 2 pm Puppy Tales Children in grades K-5 are invited to read to a furry friend to develop confidence and fluency while reading aloud. There is no registration required and several service dogs will be available.

Tues. 11/13: 6 pm Songwriting Workshop #1 Community members of all ages are welcome to join John and Nancy Bryan for a fun evening of learning how to write lyrics to a song. During the first session, all participants will work collaboratively on lyric creation to gain an understanding of how lyrics are composed. In succeeding classes, there will be an opportunity to apply these skills to the creation of a song written either independently or in a small group depending upon the participant’s preference. Songs composed during the series of workshops will be performed at a very special Community Concert performed on December 15 at 11 am in the Community Room at the library.

Fri. 11/16: 5-8 pm Positively Teens Teens will work on a project to benefit the community for the first two hours of the program. This month, make Thanksgiving cards to bring local senior citizens. The last hour will be spent eating pizza and hanging out. Students can earn community service credit if documentation is brought to the program. Space is limited. Registration is required.
Sat. 11/17: 2 pm Senior Craft: Beaded Angel Ornaments Residents of Macedon can attend and learn how to make a beaded angel ornament. There is no fee for senior residents to attend this creative program.

They can choose to work independently or in small groups depending on their personal preference. Those with the skills to compose their own music are welcome to do this, and John and Nancy will be happy to give guidance as needed.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1: Jack Kowiak Explains the Origins of Christmas Customs Get in the Christmas mood with this fun presentation by Jack Kowiak that looks at the origins of Christmas customs. Decorations, food, song, and just about every other aspect of the Christmas involves a cherished tradition. The story of how some of these customs originated and developed is fascinating. Why do we decorate with holly? What was the first Christmas carol? Come and learn the answers to these and many other interesting items. There is no fee to attend this fascinating program sponsored by Friends of Macedon Public Library.
