DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING COMPLETED BY BOARD MEMBERS

Each Illinois school board member who is elected or appointed to fill a vacancy of at least one year’s duration must receive professional development leadership training (PDLT) (P.A. 97-8) and Open Meetings Act (OMA) training. Mandatory training is also required upon Performance Evaluation Reform Act implementation in each school district. For additional information, see Board policy 2:120, Board Member Development.

The following table contains mandatory training and development activities that were completed by each Board member. When the training was provided by the Illinois Association of School Boards, the acronym “IASB” follows the listed activity.

Adam Briner        

Adam Briner was first elected in 2017.  He is the alternate IASB and also the Joint Committee Rep. On October 24, 2017, Adam completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members - IASB. He is in the process of completing the Professional Development Leadership Training and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (Pera Training for School Board Members - IASB.

Karen DeFilippis

Karen DeFilippis was first elected in 2017. She is the Board Secretary and the IASB Delegate. On May 2, 2017, Karen completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members – IASB, Professional Development Leadership Training and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members – IASB.

Kevin DeSchaaf

Kevin DeSchaaf was first elected in 2017. He is the Finance Committee alternate. On September 14, 2017, Keven completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members – IASB. He is in the process of completing the Professional Development Leadership Training and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members – IASB.

Elizabeth Hitzeman

Elizabeth Hitzeman was first elected in 2015. She is the Board Vice President,  the Joint Committee Rep, and the Health Insurance Advisory. On May 1, 2015, Elizabeth completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members – IASB. On May 2, 2015, she completed the Professional Development Leadership Training and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members – IASB.

Christine Marcinkewicz

Christine Marcinkewicz was first elected in 2017. She is on the Joint Committee. On July 26, 2017, Christine completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members – IASB. She is in the process of completing the Professional Development Leadership Training (PDLT) and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members – IASB.

Debbie Martin

Debbie Martin was first elected in 2003. She is the Board President. On April 26, 2012, Debbie completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members – IASB. On April 30, 2013 she completed the Professional Development Leadership Training (PDLT) and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members – IASB.

Russ Petrizzo

Russ Petrizzo was first elected in 2015. He is on the Finance Committee. On July 30, 2015,Russ completed the Open Meetings Act Training for School Board Members – IASB. On April 10, 2016, he completed the
Professional Development Leadership Training and Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) Training for School Board Members – IASB.
