A message for FMS Parents, Students and Community:

Farmington Municipal Schools, Aztec Schools and Bloomfield Schools are aware the New Mexico Department of Health has declared there are now three presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 (commonly known as Coronavirus)in New Mexico, specifically Bernalillo and Socorro counties. FMS has been in continuous contact and collaboration with the NM Department of Health, the NM PublicEducation Department, San Juan County Office of Emergency Management, and SanJuan Regional Medical Center regarding next steps for our district.

With this guidance, there is currently no change to the regular school schedule for FMS,Aztec or Bloomfield Schools. Hours and classroom operations will remain as usual for the Thursday, March12 and Friday, March 13 and Spring Break is scheduled for March 16-20. There will be continued coordination between local agencies with input from state agencies as rapid updates are released and changes occur. Parents and the community will be updated via normal channels, including district websites and Facebook pages.

The health and safety of our students and staff is among our highest priorities. FMS, Aztec Schools and Bloomfield Schools would like to thank all of our local agencies for their guidance and partnership during this effort.

Respectfully,

Dr. Eugene Schmidt
FMS Superintendent
