Fairmont Little League 2021 Health and Safety Procedures
In preparation for play in the 2021 season, Fairmont Little League has implemented additional safety procedures in order to address prevailing COVID-19 conditions within Marion County and the state of West Virginia.
All of the following policies are subject to change at any time as we will continue to follow all applicable and appropriate state guidelines and recommendations with respect to outdoor, limited-contact sports. Player, family, and volunteer health and safety are our highest priority.
1. Social distancing guidelines to be followed at all practices & games
- Dugouts will not be used for team practices or games. Players will hang bat bags at designated areas outside the fences six feet apart
- Fans attending practices & games who are not within the same household will be required to sit six feet apart from other attendees
- Includes bleachers, grandstands, and all seating around the fields
- Those who do not will be asked to leave the facility
2. Limiting contact
- No sharing of equipment of any kind permitted (bats, gloves, hats, catcher’s gear) o Catcher’s must bring and use their own personal gear
- No shaking hands, high-fives, or any other person-to-person contact outside of baseball play for all coaches, players, and umpires
3. Facial coverings
- Players – Masks are recommended but not required
- Coaches – Masks are recommended at practices and games where social distancing is not possible
- Umpires – Masks are recommended at all times on the field of play where social distancing is not possible
- Fans – Masks are recommended at practices and games where social distancing is not possible
- Policies may change based on state guidelines
4. Gameday procedures
- Plate umpires may call balls & strikes from a distance behind the catcher or pitcher
- After the 3rd out of an inning, the team in the field will exit completely before the batting team transitions to the field in order to limit contact among players
- No more than two individuals may be in the press box on any field, and social distancing must be practiced
- Interleague games – players, families, and fans must adhere to the safety & health policies of the host league
- Due to a continued lack of consistent availability, Fairmont Little League cannot provide hand-sanitizer to all teams; however, it is strongly recommended that all players bring their own sanitizer to use at practices and games
- Anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend any practices or games. o COVID-19 symptoms may be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html
o Parents and volunteers are responsible for assessing the health of themselves
and players!
5. Additional Medical Waiver will be required for all players
